soooo my day
Oct. 23rd, 2007 07:00 pmfinally summoned the energy to put on real clothes and go out to lunch with my mom. grilled cheese was a mistake, but oh well, it was good.
went to walmart and stocked up on power bars (hannah: i bought the non-nuttiest ones i could find, but i fear they'll still be living in my closet. what is it with nuts and health food?) and other drugs.
read some more of the new pratchett, making money - should have paid better attention in economics. it's still funny.
had a checkup with my surgeon (who wears cowboy boots with his scrubs - oh, texas) who says i'm progressing fine, not as fast as he thought, but average. damn, i hate being average. he's glad i'm not going back tomorrow morning. (so am i.)
went to starbucks, and did not get a frappucino because i knew it would make me sick. nibbled on my "reduced fat" (hahaha) blueberry coffee cake and jealously watched my mom slurp her caramel something-or-other with whipped cream on top. some days it sucks to be responsible.
watched the parents vs. students volleyball game and wished i was playing. laughed to the point of almost busting stitches as the parents beat first the jv and then the varsity. sometimes being erratic is a really good tactic. did not laugh as my dad snapped a tendon in his ankle.
really didn't laugh as my mom informed me that since my dad couldn't drive, i would have to drive him and the prius home. without my license. after not driving for more than a year. cursed (in my head, since my dad was in the seat next to me) as she blithely passed someone five minutes out of bryan and waited for me to follow her (i hate passing). left indentations in the steering wheel when we passed a police car. ultimately arrived home safely.
walked in the door to find cat vomit. apparently the bird of which we found the remains outside the back door this morning did not sit well with any of our dumb (but sweet) cats. made my brother clean it up, pleading post-driving trauma.
now it's time to go forage while i wait for my parents to return from the emergency room.
