Mar. 13th, 2007 02:31 pmtoday in creative process we wrote spur-of-the-moment 10-minute poems. our professor told us to get a piece of paper and get comfortable, and when we were settled he said "ok, you're going to write a poem. you have 10 minutes. go." it was kind of scary. i don't write poetry that isn't rhymed and structured. basically i don't write poetry with any content. i've done it maybe twice in my life before? anyway, what came out was a poem that is probably very much like any other poem, but i kind of like it and it's mine, so here it is:
hyperbole
it's amazing
how people deal with things
taking it day by day
putting it off
thinking it will go away
when really
it's here to stay
it's amazing
how I deal with this
how I fool myself
how I say
tomorrow it will be better
when really
it won't
but tonight will be better
as long as I can make it
through the day
what's the problem
anyway?
it's amazing
how this problem
seems so big
when really
it's not
it's nothing
not even a problem
at all
but still I have to make it
through the day
oh well
what's the problem
anyway?
nothing
but
it's here to stay
but tonight
will be better
