sunday thoughts
Oct. 29th, 2006 12:46 pmsometimes it's nice to eat alone. i've gotten past the freshman herding syndrome, i think. it's easier to watch people when you're sitting alone, and dining halls are prime locations for people-watching. you don't feel like you're failing at some social obligation if you just don't feel like talking to the people you're sitting with. it's good to have some quiet time among people.
on a less philosophical note...:P last night we went to the voice students' cabaret, which was amazing. i wish i could sing like that. or just have them sing for me all the time. i think our generally favorite number was "bring on the men" - the girl who sang it had this incredibly powerful but still accurate and pretty voice. and a LOT of flair and stage presence. the guy who sang the part of sweeney todd in those excerpts was also ridiculously good. i love music. :D
afterwards, i went with some friends to a literary halloween party. the costumes were great - my favorite: two people dressed up as two roads diverging in a yellow wood, one of them less traveled by. :D someone else dressed up as "the wasteland". other than that, there was a range of characters, authors, concepts, etc. it was very amusing. we left pretty early before the alcohol started flowing in excess, and because we were all just tired. a pleasant evening though. and an extra hour of sleep this morning! ahhh...

Date: Nov. 2nd, 2006 06:54 pm (UTC)I think Atwater is the best dining hall to go people-watching in, though perhaps the most awkward to eat alone at. Living in Allen, I assume Atwater's your haunt?
