first seriously unhappy college experience: my bike has been stolen. hopefully public safety will find it.

i feel like a real college student now though because yesterday my roommate and i (and by extension pretty much our entire hall) adopted a prospective student, which was so much fun! i met her at the café français and we invited her and her dad to dinner, and then we just decided she ought to stay the night. consequently we were running around the dorm talking to random people until 3 a.m. i was so tired this morning i actually drank coffee. anyway, it was fun. :D

now it is the weekend, and i am singing in various concert-like things tonight, tomorrow and sunday. and i have a paper to write by monday. and i am parentless on parents' weekend, but i'm pretty sure i'm okay with that. i mean, i wish my parents could come and all, but it's obviously not practical, and i have plenty to keep me occupied anyway.

i'm going to montreal next weekend over fall break with le cercle français! leaving saturday, coming back monday. i'm very excited about going to practice my french. and i know some other freshman who are going too. yays!

word of the day: (central american spanish) achaplinarse - to hesitate and then run away in the manner of charlie chaplin

think i made it up? wrong...stay tuned for more weird words excerpted from an article in the smithsonian we read today in my translation class...

bloody animals...we shall track them and receive our hallie's steely steed! >.> er...right. have fun singing, dear...sorry your parents can't go to the thingy. i'd come visit you, but i'm rather broke <.< anyways, i hope you're semester goes much better, that you find the thief and smash them soundly...i mean, thrash...or do i? o.O? and....hahaha, i love that word. *wants more of them* anywho, miss you. wish ppl would all come back *still feels small*

what???? when'd it disappear??? was it locked up or anything and more to the point why would someone here do that??? geeeez. that's distinctly uncool.

I'm pretty sure Maddie had a blast. Now she'll be so stoked about Midd that she will care less about other schools. yay! :) either that or all the sweet rabid-ness of all of us here will have scared her away...

my folks can't come either. i know what you mean about practicality. i'd love to see them...but this weekend would be really bad for that sort of thing.

i think ema and i are coming to your tonight's concert!

I've actually heard that word. Spanish has interesting idioms and words..."Chaguiscle" is a weird one. (I'm not sure of the spelling, but my mother uses all the time.)
