vivo (i live)
Jun. 18th, 2010 09:26 pmthings that have happened lately: my grandmother got married. my sister graduated high school and is going to usc next year. i am gainfully employed for next year (teaching at st. michael's). i am gainfully employed for the summer (housesitting and tutoring). i am not, have never been, and probably never will be allergic to anything; on the other hand, i have something called vasomotor rhinitis and something else called vocal cord dysfunction, both of which look and act like allergies and asthma, except they aren't. woohoo. (what would my life be without adventures in the medical world? :P) that's a pretty good general rundown of my life at the moment.
my house (the one i'm housesitting at, to be referred to as "my house" through mid-september) is currently infested with teenage girls, belatedly celebrating my sister's birthday. i'm being the cool big sister and providing parentlessness for an evening. :P my parents, i believe, pawned my brother off at a youth event at church and went on a real live date.
plans for tomorrow include checking out texas reds (the annual steak and grape festival in downtown bryan -- i'll probably stick with a hamburger, but it's fun, if murderously hot) and a bluegrass-ish band playing at the village cafe, which is new since last summer and kind of hippieish and might one day be as lovely as carol's. then dinner with my grandmother and her new husband to celebrate copelan's and my graduations. there's a lot of belated celebrating going on in our family.
speaking of which, we did the same thing with my aunt today, and i now have my very own piece of tiffany jewelry. it's not anything i would have picked out for myself, but it's pretty, and it makes me feel kind of grown up to have something from tiffany. :P
copelan's getting all oriented at usc two weekends from now, so we're taking a family road trip, leaving next week, to hit up las vegas and the grand canyon on our way to l.a. should be fun, might also result in the murder of some family members. we've done road trips before, but never anything this long. still, i'm excited for the grand canyon!
things that are further in the future: vermont in august for wedding! cairo in august for emma! (!!!) being a real live teacher! (now panic and freak out!) not sure i'm ok with being a grownup. :P i still have trouble saying "i went to middlebury." eeeep.
