Mar. 20th, 2009 07:11 pmtoday was a day for retail therapy...i came home with:
+ cadbury double chocolate cookies
+ lays potato chips
+ assorted candy
+ coca cola
+ a 2-euro bunch of yellow flowers bought from some woman in the street
+ yellow jeans for my mom (she picked the color, not me...)
+ black sweater for me (to go with my spring dress i bought in ireland)
only, i tried on the sweater with the dress, and it looked perfect with it, only i couldn't get the sleeves to hang right - one was above my elbow and one was below. so i laid it out and folded it in half, and sure enough, one sleeve is about five inches longer than the other. which, if you know me, you know asymmetry is one of the most surefire ways to drive me absolutely insane. so i have to take it back. and because it's perfect, they won't have another in my size, and i will be depressed. grrr. (if i sound really superficial right now, it's because the choice is either focus on superficial things or go back to being actually depressed.)
also, the two books i ordered yesterday afternoon from amazon.fr, with the free, regular-speed shipping? definitely arrived today. yay for small european countries. they're two short story collections - l'enfant de la haute mer* (the child of the open sea) by jules supervielle and je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attend quelquepart (i would like for someone to wait for me somewhere) by anna galvada - the idea being that i will pick 50ish pages' worth of stories from one of them for my french senior work translation project. i have to submit a sample to my potential advisor before actually submitting the project proposal...by april 11. but no hurry or anything. :P
so, my big plans for tonight involve 1) consuming junk food and 2) a) reading my new books (if they're enjoyable) or b) watching i) house or ii) pride and prejudice or iii) sense and sensibility.
*when i was googling the book to find out more about it, i came across this video, which i like very much:
