The Time Traveler's Wife. IDK how well you'll like it...but I figured I'd put it here anyway cause I love it and I'm about to read it again for what's probably the fiftieth time... Okay maybe tenth. Or fifteenth.
The Chronicles of the Cheysuli...it's depressing at imes, but for a fiction book with magic, they make it pretty realistic...no TRUE main characters the whole series through...
if you haven't read them already, my year of meats by ruth ozeki, and the life of pi by yann martel, and david copperfield (but I can't really recommend other dickens stuff, so far i'm disappointed with the ones i try).
i read "my year of meats", it was quite good. i've been hearing a lot of recommendations for "the life of pi", so i'll give that try next time i go to the library. i'm in the middle of a jane austen binge right now, and i'm also reading "oryx and crake" by margaret atwood (author of "the handmaid's tale"). so far i'm still having trouble telling what's going on. it's one of those books that starts from the end. oh, and i read the most recent terry pratchett book ("thud"). i was a little disappointed, the satire was a lot less subtle than usual. among things parodied: the blackberry (the irritating electronic device, not the fruit) and "the da vinci code".
