what do you think about when you're bored? once you've gotten past thinking about things you need to do, or idle people-watching, when you've drifted off into a state of mental abstraction, what sort of monologue runs through your head? these aren't rhetorical questions; i'm actually kind of curious.
i usually end up thinking about words - my brain latches on to something i've read or heard recently and starts taking it apart, trying to decide where it comes from or why we use it the way we do, or just that it sounds kind of silly. i find this a slightly odd habit. anybody else have persistent trains of thought?
