i was watching the clouds out the window riding home from houston today, and i wasn't even looking for things in them but really vivid faces kept popping out at me. it was kinda cool. maybe cause i was so tired...
why was i so tired and in houston? i was at hoby all weekend (that is hugh o'brian youth leadership seminar) as a junior counselor...i think i got 10 hours of sleep in the three days i was there. maybe normal for some people but definitely not for me. but it was fun, a lot more fun being on the staff than actually going in my opinion. first night we a) couldn't find our room and b) once we did our keys didn't work. day two we got moved to a new room. that kinda contributed to lack of sleep. :P anywho i am feeling sort of motivated to do leadership-y sort of things, i guess i better seize the moment and get some student council junk worked out. *rolls eyes* oh, the student participants this year set an all time low standard on writing ability...they had to write essays about qualities a president should have. the readers said that not only was grammar, spelling and style abysmal, it was very nearly a consensus among the 200 kids there that presidents serve 8-year terms. ouch. i read some of the thank you letters they were writing this morning...grasp of grammar and syntax is on about a 6th grade level and these are sophomores...it was sad. other than that they wre a good group...funniest quote in my opinion...at the end ceremony with the parents our director got up and said as she was announcing some awards: "some of our ambassadors have managed to distinguish themselves, which is fairly amazing considering the group we have here." the parents thought she was being complimentary...the staff was just rolling. oh well that concludes my hoby adventures, yay.
